Natchez wins in three innings

The Bulldogs ended up with just four hits in this three-inning, Division 6-5A game Tuesday night at Chester Willis Field, but they didn’t need to hit the ball that much.
That’s because Wingfield was that bad on the mound. And it’s probably a good thing the game only went three innings. Natchez High (12-9, 6-1) took advantage of 14 walks by losing pitcher Trey Devine as well as six errors by the Falcons’ defense.
“That was the bulk of our runs, on walks and passed balls,” Natchez High head coach Charlie Williams said.
The Bulldogs scored nine runs in the bottom of the first inning, four in the bottom of the second and four in the bottom of the third. Johnny Williams, Marcus Hargrave and Kendall Logan each had a double in the game.
Winning pitcher Desmond Smoot gave up just two hits, one of them a double by Sean Jones.
