Services for Mabel Grace Boies McCormick, 90, formerly of Natchez, who died Tuesday, April 3, 2007, at The Village, an assisted living center in Macon, Ga., will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Bethlehem Baptist Church, in Mangham, with her former pastor, the Rev. Randy Turner, officiating.

Burial will be at Prewitt Cemetery, in Mangham, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home officiating.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. McCormick was born June 25, 1916, in Alto, La., the daughter of Edwin Augustus Boies and Gussie Gertrude Little Boies. She grew up in a Christian home, baptized at age 11 in the Beouff River near Alto. She married John Gordon McCormick Sr. on May 15, 1935. They moved to Natchez in 1950 and were one of the families God used in the organization of Parkway Baptist Church. They, along with their two son, were charter members. She was a member of the Women’s Missionary Union group that originated the idea for forming a Baptist church to serve the Montebello area of Natchez. That group and their husbands led the way for the formation of Fellowship Baptist Church which later became Parkway Baptist. She taught Sunday School at Fellowship/Parkway Baptist for 41 years. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John; a son, Edwin Hugh; a daughter, Peggy Sue; five brothers; and four sisters.

Survivors include her sons, John McCormick Jr. and wife, Charlotte, of Gautier and David McCormick and wife, Karen, of Macon, Ga.; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and sister, Bernice Boies Bradshaw Burnham of Bastrop.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Mike McCormick, David McCormick Jr., Colin McCormick, Brandon Powell, Collen Powell, and great-grandson, Treis Olsen.
