Sewell promoted to AJFC chief operating officer

Sandra Sewell has been promoted to chief operating officer for AJFC Community Action Agency Inc.
AJFC provides comprehensive social services to assist children, adults and families attain self-sufficiency, function independently and lead productive lives through its Head Start, CSBG, LiHeap and Affordable Housing programs.
Sewell has served as director of several programs within the agency providing services and advocacy that support low-income initiatives.
She has extensive experience in grand and budget management and development, program planning, organizational structure and systematic reviews.
The position was created to strengthen program compliance, grant management and service delivery. In this role, Sewell is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the agency inclusive of those areas of concentration.
Sewell holds a juris doctorate from Thurgood Marshall School of Law, a master’s degree in guidance and counseling from Texas Southern University and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Alcorn State University. She is a Natchez native, the mother of one son and is a member of Wilderness Baptist Church.
