Tuesday, the Natchez Historical Society will hold its regular monthly meeting at the Historic Natchez Foundation on Commerce Street.

Skip Higgins will speak on Andrew Jackson Higgins of Higgins’ Industries, the New Orleans-based manufacturer of the famed “Higgins boats,” which were instrumental in the WWII victory. The Higgins boat, known also as Landing Craft, Vehicle, Personnel (LCVP), was used extensively in World War II. More than 20,000 of the plywood construction, barge-like boats were built, each carrying 36 men to shore at a time.

Skip Higgins is A.J. Higgins’ grandson and recently moved to Natchez. His program will begin at 7 p.m., following a social time at 6:30 p.m. The public is invited.
