Services for Bennie Harrell Sr., 72, of Vidalia, who died Sunday, April 22, 2007, in Vidalia, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Lake St. John Community Baptist Church with the Rev. Karl Wilson and Bro. John Cooper officiating.
Graveside services will follow at 3 p.m. at Unity Baptist Church Cemetery, Magnolia, Miss., under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home, Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Harrell was born June 21, 1934, in Pike County, the son of Rudis Eugene Harrell and Lena Harrell. He was a resident of Vidalia and was retired from Armstrong Tire Company. He was also a member of the Lake St. John Community Baptist Church, the Shreveport Masonic Lodge and a Shriner. Mr. Harrell served in the U. S. Navy Reserve.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Bennie B. Harrell Jr.; grandson, Brian Nicholas Harrell; brothers, Eugene, T. J., Paul, John Wesley and Joe Harrell.
Survivors include his wife, Nellie Harrell of Vidalia; daughter, Dianne Taylor and husband, David of Vidalia; son, Smiley Michael Harrell of Shreveport; daughter-in-law, Sarah Harrell of Shreveport; brother, Pat Harrell of McComb; sisters, Rose Smith of McComb and Alice Cox of Idaho; sister-in-law, Earline Harrell of McComb; grandsons, Brian Harrell and Jason Taylor; granddaughters, Allison Sykes, Krissy Harrell and Abby Taylor; great-grandchildren, Conner Merritt, Caden and Cee Jay Taylor, Annabelle Temple, Briana Harrell, Sebastian Sykes and Bennie Slade Sykes; several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Larry Ward, Dan Wooten, Heath Seyfarth, Jr. Harris, Gerald Austin and Carroll Rogers.
Honorary pallbearers will be Vernon Craft, Charles Hudnall, E. T. Elliot and William Seyfarth.
