Services for George Clark Eyrich Sr., 80, of Natchez, who died Monday, April 23, 2007, at his residence, will be 2 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with the Revs. Faye J. Hudnall and Kaye J. Schloemer officiating.

Burial will follow at Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time today at the funeral home.

Mr. Eyrich was born Jan. 14, 1927, in Natchez, the son of Clarence Charles Eyrich Sr. and Myrtle Evelyn Clark Eyrich. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Mr. Eyrich served in the U. S. Navy on the USS McCalla during World War II. He was a graduate of Tulane University. Following graduation, he came to Natchez to assist his father and brother in managing the Eola Hotel. He later was co-owner and manager of the Prentiss Motel. He was co-founder of the Cock of the Walk Restaurants. He was past president of the Mississippi Restaurant Association, past president of the Mississippi Innkeepers Association, and also served as chairman of the Board of Mississippi Restaurant Association. He was recognized for his outstanding service for the Mississippi Restaurant Association. Mr. Eyrich was very active as a member of many organizations, and served on several boards.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter Isabelle Eyrich Rodgers Sebille; grandson, David Jade Gill; sister Marie Louise Mutziger; and brother, Clarence C. Eyrich Jr.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Ann Eyrich of Natchez; daughters, Gladys Eyrich Swain and Elizabeth Eyrich Massengill and husband, Cam, all of Pensacola, Fla.; son, George C. Eyrich Jr. and wife, Sue, of Long Beach; grandchildren, Lonnie Mikal Rodgers Jr. and wife, Sandy, Evelyn Rachelle Pahnka and husband, Joey, Marie Louise Eyrich Swain, Pharis Ann Swain, Elissa Beth Eyrich, Erynne Hart Shatto, Charles Lance Gill, Daxton Clark Gill and wife, Stephanie; eight great-grandchildren; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Lance Gill, Dax Gill, Johnny Hoggatt, Marcus Mason, Eyrich Clark, and Barrett Clark.

Honorary pallbearers will be Braxton Gray, Thomas Rodgers, Jacob Pahnka, and Jason Rodgers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
