Ferriday — The Ferriday pool will be open and operable by the end of school, Mayor Gene Allen said.
The pool, built in 1955, has been closed since June 2005.
Recreation District No. 1 officials closed it citing safety concerns.
The necessary repairs were made by the town of Ferriday, which will turn the operation of the pool over to Recreation District No. 1 when it re-opens.
The pool’s pumps were replaced and the and pumping system was redone, Allen said.
The Concordia Parish Sheriff’s office sent labor to help with the project, he said.
“We feel like children will benefit from this pool,” Allen said. “It will be good recreation for summer.”
