Natchez High School’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes is gearing up for a youth rally to be held today at the Mary J. Irving Gymnasium at Natchez High.

The theme of the event is “Manifesting True Nature.”

Today’s youth seem to be faced with having to make too many adult-type choices and encounter more problems than ever before.

Not only are there problems in school with grades and peer pressure, but there are drugs, drinking, sexuality, pregnancy, sexually-transmitted diseases, gangs and so much more.

And, sadly, today there is a deficit in positive role models.

Our primary focus of this rally is the salvation of our youth.

World-renowned minister Benny Hinn has said, “The greatest miracle is not physical but spiritual. It is when a lost soul comes to know the glorious, saving grace of God’s son, Jesus Christ, and the forgiveness of sin. It is a gift freely given by God Almighty and is available to all.”

We want to expose our youth to the truths of what it really means to be identified with Christ. We believe that there is a need to re-present the message of the gospel that Jesus brought.

We should make them aware that since we are made in the image and likeness of Almighty God, we are to dominate, and not be dominated, as some are, by the abuses of drugs, alcohol, tobacco, sexual immorality and more.

This event will include athletic competitions, a display of local talent, motivational speakers who will address issues that our young people are faced with daily and door prizes, as well as other entertaining events.

Young people from across the Miss-Lou will experience incredible fun, dynamic speakers, awesome entertainment, the opportunity to gain new friends, life-changing experiences from the information provided during this conference — and much, much more, all to the praise, honor and glory of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

We are also planning to have the event videotaped and a photographer will be available to take group pictures for an album to be published at a later date.

We are inviting the Miss-Lou to come out and share with us.

Ruby M. Williams is an organizer of the rally to be held today at Natchez High School.
