SMITHDALE — Services for Bernice J. Brewer, 87, of Smithdale, who died Saturday, May 12, 2007, at her residence, will be 3 p.m. today at Ebenezer Methodist Church with Hollis McGehee and the Rev. Aaron Lamb officiating.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home, Ferriday.

Mrs. Brewer was born Oct. 23, 1919, in Franklin County, the daughter of Rufus and Georgia Jones. She was a homemaker and a member of the Ridgecrest Garden Club. She was a collector and a avid “rock hound.” Mrs. Brewer was a Sunday school teacher. She was a lifelong member of Ebenezer Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayland Jack Brewer; her parents; and daughters, Patricia Keyes Evans and Sandra Brewer.

Survivors include her daughters, Sue Brewer of Smithdale and Syble King of Ferriday and grandchildren, Dana Shell, Krista Keyes, Leasa Maier, Shana Keyes, Jeffery D. Jones, Cody D. Jones, Janee McKinney, Shea Pevey and Gary King.

Pallbearers will be James, Joe and Johnny Spring, Phillip Jones, Turner and Clay Dyess.

Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Dyess, Marion Newman, Billy Cliburn and Floyd Staggs.
