Services for Mable Dorease Scott Proffitt, 82, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, May 22, 2007, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with the Rev. Jason Cole officiating.

Burial will be 2 p.m. Sunday, May 27, 2007, at Lakeside Cemetery, in Camden, Ark., with committal service under the direction of Laird Funeral Home with the Rev. Leroy Jones officiating.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Proffitt was born Nov. 27, 1924, in Snyder, Ark., the daughter of Tullos Parker Scott and Amanda Elizabeth Wadley Scott. She was the second of 10 children. Mrs. Proffitt will be warmly remembered by her family, friends, and neighbors for maintaining a lovely yard and immaculate home. She was an active member of Parkway Baptist Church in Natchez and a member of the Adult 6 Sunday School Class.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Mose Proffitt; a great-grandchild, Richard Conner Proffitt; and two brothers, Billy Scott and Glen Scott.

Survivors include her daughter, Doris Evelyn Proffitt Haltom and husband, Donald Charles, of Ridgeland, formerly of Natchez; son, William Hugh Proffitt and wife, Ruthie Sharpe Proffitt, of Hampton, Ark.; very special friend, Marvin Darsey of Natchez; grandchildren, Dorease Berry-Haltom Rioux and husband, Tim, of Colorado Springs, Colo., Rochelle Haltom Hicks and husband, Jason, of Madison, Angie Proffitt Dees and husband, Dennis, and Ericka Proffitt Clemons and husband, Mike, all of Hampton, Ark., Chris Randall Haltom of Shreveport, and Tina Renae Haltom Coston and husband, Todd, of Camden, Ark.; great-grandchildren, William Zachary Rinehart, Michael Tyler Clemons, Houston Clemons, Dylan Dees, all of Hampton, Ark., Jess Walters, Justin Walters, Holly Walters, all of Camden, Ark., Charles Ethan Hicks and Isabella Dorease Hicks, both of Madison, Amanda Nicole Wethey of Dallas, Texas, Christen Michelle Wethey Smith of Mandeville, Jessica Erin Rioux and Tristan Rioux-Kellett, both of Prescott, Ariz., and Isabella Kay Smith of Mandeville; brothers and sisters, Ida Lou White of Crossett, Ark., Dottie Wefelmeyer of Gadsden, Ala., Richard Scott of Deer Park, N.Y., Edna Langston of Baytown, Texas, Frances Whittaker of Ronkonkoma, N.Y., Leroy Scott of Thompson Station, Tenn., and Ronnie Scott of Ruskin, Fla.; a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Billy Smith, Dan Brister, James Delaney, Barnett Gammill and her grandsons-in-law, Tim Rioux and Jason Hicks.

Camden graveside service pallbearers will be grandsons, Chris Haltom, Zach Rinehart, Tyler Clemons, Houston Celmons, Dylan Dees and Herschel Cobb.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Parkway Baptist Church Building Fund.
