MEADVILLE — Services for Elder Byron Tillmon “B. T.” Bishop Jr., 75, of Meadville, who died Friday, June 1, 2007, at his residence, were 11 a.m. Monday, June 4, 2007, at Middleton Creek Primitive Baptist Church.

Burial followed at the church cemetery under the direction of Franklin Funeral Home, Meadville.

Elder Bishop was born Aug. 10, 1931, in Lincoln County, the son of Byron Tillmon Bishop Sr. and Louisa Sullivan Bishop. He was a retired law enforcement officer of the Mississippi Department of Transportation, a member of Middleton Creek Baptist Church and a World War II Army veteran.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, and a nephew.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Jean Temple Bishop of Meadville; sons, Gene Alex Bishop and wife, Elizabeth, of Clinton and Byron Tillmon III and wife, Rose Mary, of Brookhaven; daughters, Dina Cothren and husband, Mitch, and Lawanna Cothren and husband, Gary, all of Meadville; sisters, Tommie Lou Wilkinson and Mary Katherine Brewer, both of McComb; sister-in-law, Barbara Bishop of Gillsburg; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
