Cyclists finish first leg of race

Natchez — The Louisiana-Mississippi District Road Race Championships began Saturday at the Natchez State Park.
Anyone was allowed to participate, but only bikers from Louisiana or Mississippi were given medals, Chief Referee Ricky Dunn said.
Scores for Saturday’s races include:
4David Bartley of Tennessee took first place in the 41.6-mile category 5 men’s race; Eric Dahl was awarded the gold medal, Diego Ortiz was awarded the silver and Quentin Steward earned the gold.
The women’s masters race was 36.4 miles long, and two groups rode together but were scored separately.
4For the age 35-plus group, Vivian Torres took first place, and for the age 45-plus Roseann Simmons captured the gold.
4Kim Regan took the gold and Chris Bowen received the silver in the 57.2-mile men’s m asters age 30-plus category.
The men’s masters age 35-plus and age 45-plus categories rode together on the 46.8-mile trek.
4Realdo Jessurun took the gold, Russ Walker won the silver and Tracy Martin rode away with the bronze in the age 35-plus category.
4Frank Moak led the age 45-plus group, followed by Randy Legeai and Bo Bourne.
4Men’s masters groups age 55-plus and 60-plus also rode together on a 36.4 mile ride.
In the men age 55-plus category, Michael Winniford finished first, followed by Jim Quick and Mike Rourke.
4Mike Hart led the men age 60-plus, with Lewis Tonglet finishing second and Dan Rinks closing out the placing.
4Dub Sorrells of Arkansas took the men age 10-12 gold.
4Ben Gabardi of Tennessee captured the men age 13-14 category.
4Vincent Wallen won first place in the men age 17-18 category, and Diego Ortiz won second.
