NATCHEZ — On July 21 muggles will receive Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the last book in the wildly popular series.
And muggles—humans in Harry’s world—can celebrate at local bookstores at 12:01 a.m.
Cover to Cover and Turning Pages have extensive preordering lists, even though the release date is in a month.
“It is going to be a big release, the internet preorders are already extensive,” Cover to Cover owner Charles Hall said.
Both stores plan on putting up a festive display in preparation for the release.
“We will have a display put up, but we won’t be able to show the books,” Turning Pages owner Mary Emrick said. “Scholastic has a stern release date.”
Bookland in the Natchez mall, which has hosted contests in the past, plans to keep the tradition going.
“I am not sure of what we are doing yet, but there will be something going on,” manager Rene Henderson said.
Bookland is not able to stay open until midnight, but they are planning to open at 6 a.m. in order to meet the public demand for the book.
“We are planning and making conference calls because this release is so big,” Henderson said.
Wal-Mart is planning its unveiling at midnight.
“It is too early to tell what kind of turnout we will have, but I do know it will be big,” manager Mary Bradley said.
Wal-Mart is currently planning details that will include cake, punch, giveaways and contests for attendees.
“We plan on it being a big blowout,” Bradley said.
