MADISON, Ala. — Services for W. G. “Pete” Breithaupt, 87, of Huntsville, Ala., who died Sunday, June 17, 2007, will be 1 p.m. today at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Father Michael Sexton officiating.
Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery, Inc. under the direction of Laughlin Service Funeral Home, Huntsville, Ala.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to noon today at the funeral home.
Mr. Breithaupt was a veteran of World War II where he served in the Philippines in the intelligence group. He worked at NASA for 33 years as an industrial engineer where he received many awards while working on the Apollo and Skylab programs. His hobbies included amateur radio, photography, astronomy and electronic gadgets. He was a member of Holy Spirit Parish for 49 years.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Myrtle Downing Breithaupt; brother, Maxwell Breithaupt of Natchez; children, Rosemary Breithaupt of Memphis, Tenn., William Gahan Breithaupt II of Silver Spring, Md., Deirdre Breithaupt of Leesburg, Va., Patrick Breithaupt of Madison, Ala., and Claire Breithaupt Bennett of Alexandria, Va.; grandchildren, Sydney Lea Breithaupt, Emily Darian Bennett, Nicholas Alexander Bennett, Madeleine Dominique Breithaupt, Therese Michelle Breithaupt and Christina Grace Breithaupt.
