BROOKHAVEN — Services for Roland L. Thornton Sr., 75, of Brookhaven, who died Sunday, June 24, 2007, at his residence, will be 4 p.m. today at Brookhaven Funeral Home, Natchez Drive.

Burial will follow at Riverwood Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Brookhaven Funeral Home, Natchez Drive.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.

Mr. Thornton was born Jan. 12, 1932, in Franklin County, the son of Henry Thornton and Floya Matthews Thornton. He was a carpenter. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Nell Thornton Nettles; and twin sons.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Audrey Allen Thornton of Brookhaven; sons, Roland Thornton Jr. of Smithdale and Henry E. Thornton and wife, Carolyn, of Crystal Springs; daughter, Tywana Thornton Foster and husband, Thomas, of Brookhaven; brother, J.R. Thornton of wife, Myrtle, of Summit; sister, Celas Wallace of Brookhaven; grandchildren, Michael Thornton, Andrea Grammer, Justin Smith, Joey Smith, Sabrina Foster, Joey Small and Julie Grant; great-grandchildren, Mitchell and Abigail Thornton, Stephanie and Bradley Grammer, Johnny Bass, Darrell Grant, Emily Small, Victoria Smith and Karlyan Smith.
