TM Jenning teams pitch and hit for championship

NATCHEZ — What started as a pitcher’s duel quickly became a hit fest Thursday night in the 11- and 12- year-old TM Jennings League Championship.
United Mississippi Bank fell to Britton & Koontz Bank 20-12.
B&K broke the ice early in the first inning for three runs against pitcher Karl Ellis. Two of the runs came off an inside-the-park home run by catcher Derrian Johnson.
But United Mississippi bounced back to tie the game 3-3 in the second inning. Runs came off singles from Aaron Wesley, Avery Jones and Amos James.
Winning pitcher Darrius Terrel got run support as B&K broke away in the third and fifth innings for a total of 15 runs. Johnson tacked on another home run. JaDarrius Williams and Cody Gilchrist tallied two doubles each.
“I’m very proud of my team,” B&K coach Johnny Williams said. “We got strong pitching from Darrius and our hitting was very good. We’ve had a good season.”
United Mississippi had two players Ronnie Griffin and Wesley that went four for four
The T. M. Jennings 11-12 year-old all-star team will be announced later this week.
The 9-10 year-old championship game was called in the top of the sixth with the score 34-23.
It will resume at 6 p.m. Friday at the Frazier Fields.
