There was just enough rain to cancel the 12-year-old Dixie Youth Sub-District Tournament in Natchez and the Vidalia vs. Ferriday Dixie Youth Championship Game Thursday.

The Dixie Youth Sub-District Tournament starts at 6 p.m. with Lincoln National playing Wesson on the Carroll-Jones Field and Copiah facing Lincoln American on the Sprague-Gousett Field.

The Natchez All-Stars play Franklin County at 8 p.m. on the Carroll-Jones field.

“The tournament will run a day longer,” organizer Porky Smith said.

Vidalia and Ferriday start play at 6 p.m. with the possibility of another game at 8 p.m. if Ferriday wins.

“We didn’t get out there fast enough to cover the fields,” tournament director Mike Bowlin said.

There is a 60 percent chance of scattered thunderstorms through out the day with the temperatures reaching the mid-80s.
