MONROE, La. — Hunter Randall drove in four runs and Cole Cupit pitched a complete-game gem as the Vidalia 9- and 10-year-old All-Stars defeated the West Carroll All-Stars 9-2 at the District 5 District Tournament Monday afternoon.
“Cole pitched a great game. He had good control and he was hard to hit today,” Vidalia head coach Whest Shirley said. “Hayden Nunnery and William Handjis had two diving catches that got us out of a bind. Hayden’s was in the second inning and William’s was in the third. That’s two catches that a 10-year-old is not supposed to make.”
Randall went 3-for-3 to go with his four runs batted in and helped the Vidalia All-Stars break open a close game with five runs in the bottom of the third inning.
“Our bats finally came to life,” Shirley said.
The game between the Ferriday All-Stars and the West Monroe North All-Stars was postponed due to rain and will be played today at 6 p.m. Because of the rain delay pushing some of Monday’s games back, the game between Vidalia and the loser of the Monroe-Rayville game will take place at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
