MCCOMB — The McComb 9-year-old All-Stars have dominated the competition through two games of the District 6 District Tournament, first defeating Copiah 20-0 and then Pine Hills 21-2.
McComb didn’t score as many runs Monday night as it did in its first two games, but they scored more than enough to defeat the Natchez All-Stars 12-2 in four innings at Edgewood Park to advance in the winner’s bracket.
“There were a lot of walks in the game,” Natchez assistant coach Terry Moffett said.
Not one player for either Natchez or McComb had an extra-base hit and neither team had any multiple hitters.
Natchez took a 2-0 lead at the end of the first inning, but that would be all the runs it would get. McComb scored seven runs in the second inning to take the lead for good, then added two in the third and three in the fourth to 10-run rule Natchez.
Tyler Wilson was the losing pitcher for Natchez, which will take on the Lincoln County Americans for the second time in the tournament today at 6 p.m. This time, however, one team will go home while the other will advance to the finals on Wednesday. McComb will take on Wesson today at 8 p.m.
