VIDALIA — Two Vidalia residents were arrested after allegedly writing forged drug prescriptions.
Misty Ann Melton, 32, 154 Eagle Road, and Russell W. Nelson, 38, 163 Eagle Road, were arrested on charges of forgery Sunday.
Melton was also arrested on a warrant stemming from check forgery charges, Police Chief Billy Hammers said.
Melton allegedly stole a prescription pad from a doctor’s office and was writing herself illegal prescriptions, Hammers said.
Nelson was arrested as an accomplice because he was allegedly a witness to the events, Hammers said.
Both Melton and Nelson are currently being detained by the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office on $25,000 bonds.
