MADISON — Services for Mary Carolyn White, 91, of Madison, who died Sunday, July 22, 2007, at St. Catherine’s Village, in Madison, will be 11 a.m. Friday at Natchez Trace Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow at Natchez Trace Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Natchez Trace Funeral Home, Madison.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
Carolyn was born July 27, 1915, in Winona. She married P.J. Hightower and they became parents of a daughter, Diane. A short time afterward, P. J. was killed in a vehicle accident. Carolyn later married Mackey White and they moved to Natchez in 1947 where Mackey was employed with Mississippi Power and Light Company. They also became parents of a son, Bill. Carolyn worked as school secretary at Montebello School in Natchez for 10 years. After moving to Jackson in 1964, she managed the Vieux Carre’ Apartments for 12 years. She then retired with her husband, who later passed away in 1993. During the many years she lived in Jackson, Carolyn and Mackey were members of Woodland Hills Baptist Church. Carolyn enjoyed dancing and was active in Lions Club activities and also became a member of several bridge clubs. After Mackey’s death, Carolyn moved to Roses Bluff in Madison and became a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church. She later moved into St. Catherine’s Village in 1997.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Nordice Kemp of Winona and Deen Jones of Memphis, Tenn.
Survivors include her children, Diane H. Stephens and William M. “Bill” White and wife, Marianna; grandchildren, Glenn Stephens and wife, Tammy, Kathryn Sampley and husband, David, and Matt White and fiance, Erin Vermillion; and great-grandchildren, Rhett, Graham and Thad Stephens.
