TWENTY YEARS AGO — The design for having nine more holes at the Duncan Park Golf Course are completed, but Natchez Recreation Department director Terry Swalm says that time for surveying the park and the money to construct the holes are lacking.
TEN YEARS AGO — Thanks to an eagle on the fourth hole, Kevin Smith Jr. shoots a final-round 69 to finish with a two-day score of 137 to win the Bill McKenney Memorial City Golf Championship by six shots ahead of defending champion Greg Brooking and former champion Pete Powell.
FIVE YEARS AGO — The biggest surprise at the end of the first round of the Bill McKenney Memorial City Golf Championship is who’s atop the leader board – Eric Smith, whose 3-under 68 gives him a one-shot lead over Stephen Hollingsworth.
