Butler, Cockerham leading in state congressional races

NATCHEZ — The race for state Senate District 38 saw Kelvin E. Butler take 958 votes, 78 percent of the total vote in Adams County. Butler’s opponent Spencer M. Nash took 271 votes in Adams County.

In Wilkinson County, Butler took 75 percent of the vote, and in Pike he garnered 64 percent of the total votes.

Unofficial tallies from Amite and Walthall Counties were not available Tuesday night.

In the state House District 96 race, incumbent Angela Cockerham took 655 votes in Adams County, 81 percent of the vote over her opponent Larry Lee.

In Pike County, Cockerham took 91 percent of the vote, and in Wilkinson County she claimed 65 percent.

Unofficial numbers were not readily available from Amite County.

Sen. Robert Johnson II ran unopposed for District 94, and received 4,249 votes, 99.74 percent of the vote in Adams County. There were 11 write-in votes in county for the Johnson race.
