Karl Strebeck

MONTEREY — Services for Karl Strebeck, 72, of Monterey, who died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2007, at St. Dominic, in Jackson, will be 11 a.m. today at New Era Baptist Church with the Revs. Huey Tarpley, David Strebeck, Bobby Morton and Dr. Ray Strebeck officiating.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home, Ferriday.

Mr. Strebeck was born Dec. 15, 1934, in Springfield, La., the son of Walter William Strebeck and Lula Richardson Strebeck. He was self-employed as a construction contractor. He was a member of New Era Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Mr. Strebeck proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Vince Strebeck; brothers, DeWitt and Rupert Strebeck; and a sister, Virginia Dale Strebeck.

Survivors include his wife, Maxine Lipsey Strebeck of Monterey; daughter, Rhonda S. Huff and husband, Chuck, of Meadville; son, Van Strebeck and wife, Kim, of Monterey; sisters, Nancy Strebeck of Pensacola, Fla. and Mary Morton of Mobile, Ala.; brothers, Jim Strebeck of Collins, the Rev. David Strebeck and Dr. Ray Strebeck, both of Seminary; 10 grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Lanny Lipsey, Jerry Lipsey, Lane Dale, Ronnie Strebeck, Steve Strebeck and Kevin Strebeck.

Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of New Era Baptist Church.
