Home of player in Woodville controversy burns

WOODVILLE — The house of a woman involved in the controversy surrounding the Wilkinson County elections burned Friday morning.

Donna Smith, wife of District Five Board of Supervisors candidate Kirk Smith, was reportedly arrested Thursday after protesting absentee vote counting methods at the Wilkinson County Courthouse.

The Smiths’ Lake Mary Road home burned Friday morning, Centreville resident Ann Greer said.

The Wilkinson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed they received a call about a fire on Lake Mary Road in Woodville, and the state fire marshal’s office said they have been notified of the fire and are investigating the matter.

Neither Donna nor Kirk Smith were available for comment Friday.
