“The players have to know where they are going on the field,” Harrison said. “We are going to learn to play sound, technique football.”

Seniors like quarterback Kendrick Harris and running back Matthew Smith are leading by example.

“Kendrick is a true leader,” Harrison said. “He has picked the new system very fast.”

Harrison said the younger players are learning how to lead from the seniors.

The Trojans normally would practice at 4 p.m. but due to the heat practice was moved to 6 p.m.

“The heat is awful,” Harrison said. “We have to be careful of players falling out.”

At practice, they divide the time spending an hour and a half on offense and an hour and a half defense.

During the offense session, the team divides up in position groups to work on techniques and plays.

“We’ll take the quarterbacks and running backs and work on inside plays,” Harrison said. “Then the quarterbacks spend time throwing to the receivers and working on routes.”

Ferriday opens it schedule at home on Aug. 31 against Madison.
