WOODVILLE — Services for John L. King, 84, of Woodville, who died Monday, Aug. 13, 2007, at his residence, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Woodville Baptist Church with the Revs. Warren Whitaker and Scott Hathorn officiating.

Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, in Woodville, under the direction of Newman Funeral Home, Centreville.

Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until service time Thursday at the church.

Mr. King was born June 22, 1923, in Bolivar County, the son of Thomas L. and Minnie Seteth King. He was a retired farm manager for Canal Barge Company of New Orleans. He also managed Lake Mary Lodge from 1966 to 1973. Mr. King served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of Woodville Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was also a Gideon and active in prison ministry in Wilkinson County.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Vera Woods; and brothers, Burlin King, J.W. King and T.J. King.

Survivors include his wife, Louise King of Woodville; daughters, Mary Ann Lofton and husband, George, of Saucier, Linda Billeaudeau and husband, Benton, of Woodville and Ruth Spillman and husband, Tommy, of Texas; son, John E. King of Gulfport; sister, Lilla Mae Hood of Kosciusko; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Robert Hartness Jr., Dr. David Harrison, Eli Whitaker, James Spinks, Curtis Lanehart, Raymond Swaggart, Dr. James Leak and Chad Vines.

Honorary pallbearers will be Julius Carter, Laverne Harper, R.A. Hartness, Billy Joe Jones, Dr. Robert Lewis, E.M. Kee Jr., Enloe Kee III, J.C. Hughes, David Wilkerson and Jim Crane.
