NATCHEZ – Services for Jestine Barfield, 85, of Natchez, who died Friday, Sept. 7, 2007, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pleasant Green Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Johnson officiating.

Burial will follow at Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Barfield was born April 18, 1922, in Duckhill, the daughter of Lucy Drake Ivory. She was a housewife. She a member of Pleasant Green Baptist Church where she served on the mother’s board.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Barfield; her mother; a daughter, Lavelle O’Neal; and brother, Willie Barfield.

Survivors include children, James Barfield and wife, Doris, Anna Barfield Payne and husband, James, and Michael Barfield and wife, Cynthia, all of Natchez; sister, Ollie Evans of Natchez; 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; special friends, Mary Johnson and Carrie Myles, both of Natchez; goddaughter, Tangla Hawthorne; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearer will be friends of the family.
