Irma Heard

JONESVILLE — Services for Irma Estis Heard, 86, of Birmingham, Ala., formerly of Harrisonburg, who died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2007, at Plantation Manor Nursing Home, in Birmingham, will be 2 p.m. today at Young’s Funeral Home with the Revs. Tommy Estis and Albert Vickers officiating.
Burial will follow at Heard Cemetery, in Manifest, under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home of Jonesville.
Mrs. Heard was born May 10, 1921, in Manifest, the daughter of Sam Estis and Ellen Webb Sikes. She was a drug store clerk at Riggs and Morgan Drug Store. She was also a member of the Goldstar Wives of America and a member of the Pisgah Baptist Church in Manifest.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Willard Heard, daughter, GlendaLene Ellis, husband, Lloyd Ellis, and brothers, Jack, Pat and Monk Estis.
Survivors include her daughter, Georgia Hathaway and husband, Jimmy, of Birmingham; son, Kerry Heard and wife, Joy, of Ferriday; four grandchildren; brothers, Ray Estis of Aimwell and Hulon Estis of Vidalia; sister, Mary Ford of Donaldsonville; and special friends, Harold Jones and Paul Riggs, both of Jonesville.
