FERRIDAY — Services for Samuel Skinner Sr., 96, of Waterproof, who died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2007, at Riverland Medical Center, will be at 1 p.m. today at Springhill Baptist Church, in Waterproof, with the Rev. Leroy Brown officiating.
Burial will follow at Myrtle Grove Cemetery, in Waterproof, under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Mr. Skinner was born Dec. 6, 1910, in Waterproof, the son of David and Winnie Webb Skinner. He was a retired carpenter.
He was preceeded in death by a son, Samuel Skinner Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Emmarett Hill Skinner; daughters, Lottie Clark and Isabella S. Johnson, both of Chicago, Alice Caffey and husband, Carl, of Rancho Cordova, Calif., and Lela S. Ross and husband, James, of Waterproof; brothers, David Skinner of Ferriday and Theodore Skinner of Winnsboro; sister, Ann Dillard and husband, Harold, of Los Angeles; nine grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and cousins.
