FERRIDAY — Services for Lillian Bell Garvin Sewell, 99, of Ferriday, who died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2007, at Rapides Regional Medical Center, in Alexandria, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Young’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Art Baker officiating.

Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, in Pineville, under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Sewell was born Aug. 31, 1908, in Shelby County, Tenn., the daughter of Willie H. Garvin and Dora Henning Garvin. She was a 50 year resident of Ferriday and a 50 year member of Sevier Memorial United Methodist Church. She was a retired employee of the Concordia Parish Library and a long time Bookmobile driver. Mrs. Sewell was also a 50 year member of the Eastern Star and Past Worthy Matron of the Delta Chapter 159 OES.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Reynolds “J.R.” Sewell Sr.; son, John R. “Jack” Sewell Jr.; daughter-in-law, Betty Sue Price Sewell; and brothers, Joseph “Joe” Garvin and Freddie Garvin.

Survivors include her son, William J. Sewell and wife, Missie, both of Poulsbo, Wash.; daughters, Anna Sharp of Kirkland, Wash.; grandsons, Joby Sewell and John R. Sewell II; and granddaughters, Anna Brown, Nancy England, Tami Mathisen and Susan Hanson.

Pallbearers will be Billy Clifton, Albert Crothers, Louis Nowlin III, John Rife, Billy Rucker and Bill Mayer.
