NATCHEZ— Graveside services for Elsie Mae Hughes Wheat 87, of Natchez, who died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2007, at Haven Hall Nursing Home, in Brookhaven, where she was in rehab from a stroke, will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Natchez City Cemetery with D.W. Daniels officiating.

Visitation will be from noon to 12:45 p.m. Sunday at Laird Funeral Home.

Mrs. Wheat was born June 1, 1920, in Franklinton, the daughter of Jessie J. and Athalee Stafford Hughes. She enjoyed fishing, bowling and spending time with her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leroy Wheat; and brother, Jessie Hughes Jr.

Survivors include her sons, Charles Wheat and wife, Dorothy, both of Natchez; and John Wheat of Brandon; grandchildren, Chuck Wheat of Kilgore, Texas, Debbie Jones of Brookhaven, Jason Wheat and Megan Wheat, both of Brandon; six great-grandchildren; and a favorite pet, Sasha.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Chuck and Jason Wheat, great-grandson Taylor Jones and family friends.
