NATCHEZ – Services for Dean D. Stevens, 73, of Natchez, who died Monday, Oct. 15, 2007, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Natchez First Baptist Church with the Revs. Dan Wynn and Dan Ratcliff officiating.

Burial will follow at Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the church.

Mr. Stevens was born April 2, 1934, in Clayton, the son of Clyde Adam and Rubye Davis Stevens. He was a member of the Natchez First Baptist Church for 51 years. He was employed with Armstrong Tire and Rubber Company for 26 years and with Fidelity Tire Company for six years as a fabric engineer.

Mr. Stevens had been a resident of Natchez since 1956. He served in the U.S. Army for two years. He loved woodworking and making wood products. He was a graduate of Louisiana State University and served as president of his fraternity, Pi Kappa Alpha.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Merle Stevens.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Mae Lambeth Stevens of Natchez; son, Michael Dean Stevens of Livermore, Calif.; daughter, Nancy Stevens Cooper and husband, Ed, both of Centennial, Colo.; grandson, Steven Cooper, currently stationed at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi; and sister, Belva Ann McKinnie and husband, J.C., both of Madison; nephew, Charles McKinnie and wife, Susan, their children, Allan and wife, Amanda, and Scott; niece, Beverly Howard and husband, Pete, their children, Gary and Anna; nephew, Roy McKinnie and wife, Sharon, their children, Samuel and Elizabeth; mother-in-law, Johnnie Gay of Natchez; sisters-in-law, Karen Callon and husband, Fred, both of Natchez, their children, Amy, Heather, Lindsey and Lauren and Linda Vermeulin of Perth, Australia, her children, Carla and John; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Pete Howard, Roy McKinnie, Lindsey Callon, Charles McKinnie, Lynwood Easterling and Bernie Pyron.

Honorary pallbearers will be Rice Mens Sunday School class.

Memorials may be made to the Natchez First Baptist Church or a charity of choice.
