VICKSBURG – Services for the Rev. Dr. H.L. Parker, who died Friday, Oct. 12, 2007, at River Region Hospital, in Vicksburg, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1318 First East St., in Vicksburg.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Dr. Parker was a retired minister of St. Paul’s Baptist Church and a former biology professor at Alcorn State University. He was a life member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and secretary of the State Baptist Convention for many years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Genevieve M. Hines Parker, a former professor of Alcorn State University, in 1977 and grandchildren, Jacqueline and Paris.

Survivors include a family who loves and misses him very much; his children, Gloria Parker Penn and husband, John, Henry L. Parker Jr. and wife, Katie, and Verta M. Parker; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Flowers may be sent to Rollins Funeral Home, in Port Gibson, or a contribution made to a scholarship fund, to be established at Alcorn University, in the name of Dr. Parker.
