CROSBY – Services for Joseph Homer Murray, 62, of Crosby, who died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007, at his residence, was Friday, Nov. 2, 2007, at Hopewell Methodist Church with the Revs. Howard Killingsworth and Bobby Seal officiating.
Burial will followed at the church cemetery under the direction of Brown Funeral Home in Gloster.
Mr. Murray was born Sept. 9, 1945, the son of Nolan Murray Sr. and Mary Joseph Murray. He was a heavy equipment operator for Wilkinson County District 5. Mr. Murray was a member of Hopewell Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers and sisters, Inez Joy, Katherine Nettles, David Murray, Irene McCurley, Marie Ashley, Willie Velaman, Melvin Murray and James Murray.
Survivors include his son, Joseph Allen Murray and wife, Heather, both of Crosby; daughter, Brenda Lynn James and husband, John, both of Crosby; grandchildren, Jay Digel, Ashlee Digel and Hunter James; brothers, Nolan Murray Jr. and Richard Murray, both of Crosby; and sisters, Helen Pittman and Dorothy Dixon, both of Centreville.
Pallbearers were Neal Murray, Nolan Murray, Richard John Murray, James Murray, Nolan Pittman, Jimmy Ashley, Ronny Mizell and Homer Nettles.
Honorary pallbearers were be Richard Raiford, Clayton “Bull” Humphreys, Steve Ashley, T.J. Ashley, Tommy Murray, W.G. Johnson and Thomas McKenzie.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude or the Hopewell Memorial Youth Fund.
