JONESVILLE – Services for John M. Welch Sr., 74, of Jonesville, who died Monday, Dec. 10, 2007, in Jonesville, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Jonesville with the Rev. Marshall Douglas officiating.

Burial will follow at Hickory Grove Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Jonesville.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Welch was born July 20, 1933, the son of Doyce Oakland Welch and Annie Mae Ferguson Welch. He was a farmer and a member of First Baptist Church of Jonesville. Mr. Welch also served in the U. S. Air Force.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Johnnie Ruth Welch; his parents; brother, Gerald Welch; and sister, Sybil Stacy.

Survivors include his wife, Treva Welch of Jonesville; sons, John M. Welch Jr. and wife, Wanda, both of Vidalia and Randal A. Welch and wife, Martha, both of Bastrop; grandchildren, Trey and Laura Welch, both of Petal, Stephen Welch of Baton Rouge, and Samuel Welch, Lurah Welch and Priscilla Taylor, all of Bastrop; great-grandchildren, Devon Taylor and Ciara Taylor; brothers, Bobby Welch of Indianola, Jimmy Welch of Leland, Darvin Welch of Pontchatoula, La. and Mike Welch of Louise; and sisters, Frances Pratt of Kanab, Utah, LaVern Eldridge of Shaw and Lois Mitchell of Indianola.

Pallbearers will be Samuel Welch, Stephen Welch, Trey Welch, Cody Higdon, Joe Higdon, and Lonnie LaBorde of Jonesville.

Memorials donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Jonesville or the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home.
