Earl Pullins

NATCHEZ – Services for Earl Pullins, 61, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007, at Glenburney Nursing Facility, in Natchez, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Greater St. Mark Baptist Church with the Rev. Maurice Irving officiating.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Monday at the church.

Mr. Pullins was born Nov. 1, 1946, in Natchez, the son of Horace and Bernice Pullins. He attended Natchez-Adams County Schools. He was employed as a farm laborer for various families as well as for himself.

Mr. Pullins was a member of Greater St. Mark Baptist Church where he was a member the senior choir, Gospel Temple Baptist Church senior choir, Senior Voices of Praise, Greater St. Mark Baptist Church Missionary Ministry and the Milford Society. He enjoyed photography, videography and helping others.

He was preceded in death by his parents; uncles, Clarence Pullins, Arthur Griffin, Freeman Pullins, Freddie Tucker, Willie Pullins and Clarence Love Pullins.

Survivors include his sisters, Paula Newton and husband, Ray Sr., both of Gulfport and Janie Hoggatt of Natchez; brothers, Horace Pullins Sr. and wife, Essie, both of Detroit, Frank Pullins and wife, Geraldine, both of Minneapolis, Minn., Lee Alexander and wife, Shelia, and Jessie James Pullins and wife, Lorraine, all of New Orleans; aunt, Marguerite Thomas of New Orleans; uncle, Flemon Pullins of Chicago; special nephews that he raised as his own, Jeff Holmes III, Izearcatrell Holmes and Jarthur Holmes; other nieces, nephews, relatives and close friends that included Deloris Irving, Margaret Brown, Gwendolyn Ware and “Sonny” Proby; a special sister-in-law, Susan Pullins of Baton Rouge; and stepfather, James Harrield of New Orleans.

Pallbearers will be Charles Ford, Jeff Holmes Jr., James Proby, Robert Fitzgerald, Eliston Fitzgerald and Horace Pullins Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Pullins, Lee Alexander Pullins, Jessie James Pullins, Willie Ware, Ray Newton Jr., Jeff Holmes III, Izearcatrell Holmes and Jarthur Holmes.
