NATCHEZ – Funeral services for Prentiss Lewis, 90, of Natchez, who died Monday, Dec. 24, 2007, at his residence, will be 11 a.m., today at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with the Revs. Jerald Williams Jr. and Mike O’Brien officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Mr. Lewis was born July 31, 1917, in Franklin County, the son of Thomas David and Ethel Smith Lewis. He was a faithful member of Salem Primitive Baptist Church and VFW. He was a World War II Army Veteran. Mr. Lewis retired from Johns-Manville Corporation after 30 years of service.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Orbie Jordan, Eula Harveston and Lorine Hancock; and brothers, Willie, Nolan, Hiram, Dennis and George Lewis.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Annie May Lewis of Natchez; brother, Eugene C. Lewis and wife, Genie, both of Natchez; a large number of nieces, nephews; great nieces and nephews; great-great nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Julius A. May Jr., Donald L. Verucchi, Thomas A. Williams, Robert E. Lewis, Randy E. Lewis and Thomas C. Hancock.

Honorary pallbearers will be Robert McClatchey, Roger Lewis, Kenneth Beard, Harold Whittington, Steve Burkett, and all of his fox hunting buddies.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Salem Primitive Baptist Church, 1508 Eastwood Road, Natchez, MS 39120
