YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Services for Willie Lee Trask Young, 86, of Atlanta, who died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2007, were 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 2007, at Third Baptist Church, in Youngstown, Ohio, with the Rev. Morris W. Lee officiating.

Arrangements were under the direction of L.E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home.

Mrs. Young was born Feb. 6, 1921, in Natchez, the daughter of Louis Trask and Julia Bradley Trask. She was married to Carl H. Young Sr. and to this union three children were born. She was a member of Rose Hill Baptist Church. She later moved to Youngstown, the home of her husband, where she joined Third Baptist Church. She was a member of the NAACP, National Council of Girl Scouts of America, Rising Star Chapter 82-Order of Eastern Star and a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

“If I can help somebody as I pass this way” was her mantra and it was exhibited in her life with her family, friends and most of all, the children she taught for more than 38 years. After retirement, she continued to exhibit her commitment to her work for the Lord in the United States and abroad. She traveled and volunteered in schools and churches in Germany, The Netherlands, Fort Campbell, Ky. and Fort Benning, Ga., where she resided with one of her sons and his family. She continued service in attending Ben Hill UMC in Atlanta, while living with her son and daughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Survivors include her children, Elizabeth, Carl and Kenneth; grandchildren, Dalva Huntley, Kenneth Young II, Julia Young and Carl H. Young III; great-grandchildren, Monet Huntley and Markel Huntley; a number of nieces and nephews in Youngstown and New Orleans; and other relatives and friends.
