WOODVILLE – Services for Mary Elizabeth Carter Geter, of Zachary, La., formerly of Woodville, who died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008, will be at 11 a.m. today at Newman Funeral Home with the Rev. Warren W. Whitaker officiating.

Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, in Woodville, under the direction of Charlet Funeral Home in Clinton, La.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time today at the Newman Funeral Home.

Mrs. Geter was born Sept. 7, 1929, the daughter Vernon and Doris Carter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Parham Geter Jr., in 1949; her oldest son, William Parham; and her parents.

Survivors include her son, Henry Parham III and wife, Connie Jackson Geter, both of Zachary, who gave her wonderful loving care in her later years; granddaughter, Amber Geter Thorne of Zachary; great-grandchildren, Jackson Hollis Thorne and John Henry Parham Thorne, both of Zachary; brother, W.V. Carter; niece, Mona Carter Whitaker; great-nephew, Warren Whitaker II, all of Woodville; great-nieces, Mona Whitaker Harrison of Woodville and Lacy Whitaker Rice of Sumiton, Ala.; and daughter-in-law, Donnis Geter of Slidell, La.

Pallbearers will be nephews, Cliff Meritt, Bubba Geter, Joey Geter, Brandon Geter, Derwin McManus and Warren Whitaker II.
