NATCHEZ – Services for M.A. “Arkansas” Goldman, 86, of Natchez, who died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with the Revs. Jason Cole, Wayne Spencer and Russell Wagoner officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today and from 1 p.m. until service time Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Goldman was born March 29, 1921, in Rhondo, Ark., the son of Ollie Monroe Goldman and Ethel Mae Hicks Goldman. He was a member of Parkway Baptist Church and was an ordained deacon. Mr. Goldman served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He was retired from International Paper Company as a Millwright foreman. Mr. Goldman was a member of Andrew Jackson Masonic Lodge for over 50 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Louise; grandson, Keith Goldman; granddaughter, Beth Carroll Rogers; stepdaughter, Debbie Kemp; brother, Raymond Goldman; and sister, Katherine Van Vlake.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Goldman of Natchez; sons, Jerry Goldman and wife, Betty, Danny Goldman and wife, Pam, Glen Goldman and wife, Kathy, all of Natchez and Jimmy Goldman and wife, Carolyn, both of Sterlington, La.; daughter, Mary Fae Nethercutt and husband, Mike, both of Pine Bluff, Ark.; stepsons, Harry Spinks and wife, Cecelia, both of Ocean Springs, Bobby Spinks and wife, Dianne, both of Jackson and Lamar Spinks and wife, Delores, both of Natchez; brothers, Castle Goldman of Antioch, Calif. and Edward Goldman and wife, Jean, both of Lynchburg, S.C.; sisters, Zinnie Herring of Collinsville, Ill., Helen King of Helena, Ark. and Frances Comeaux of Vidalia; 26 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Brewer, Roger Britt, Lee Gillespie, Jim Hill, Jack Leake and James “Doodle” Smith.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of his Sunday School Class.

The Goldman family gives special thanks to Dr. Blane Mire and Dr. Kenneth Stubbs for their care. A special thanks to Adams County Nursing Home, special friend Willie Pearson and Parkway Baptist Church Heaven Bound Adult VI Sunday School Class.
