Patricia White

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – A memorial mass was held for Patricia Eusterman White, 82, in Scottsdale, Ariz., who died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008.

Pat was born April 5, 1925, the daughter of Dr. Matthew F. and Pearl Eusterman of Rochester, Minn. As a young woman, she worked as a medical office assistant at the University of Michigan Medical School, Johns Hopkins in Baltimore and the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. She met the love of her life, Dr. Roy White Jr. while he was completing his residency at the Mayo Clinic. Pat and Roy married on Sept. 15, 1951. The couple later moved to Roy’s hometown of New Orleans and subsequently to Baton Rouge and began raising a family.

The family moved to Scottsdale in 1972. Pat volunteered as a nurse’s assistant at Laguna Elementary School. She also donated her time to teach English to non-native speakers with the literacy volunteers of Maricopa County and worked for many years as a volunteer at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale Thrift Club. Dr. and Mrs. White were members of the Paradise Valley Country Club.

Pat will be remembered for her loving commitment to family and friends and her spirit of giving to others. She took immense pride in the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren and lived her life with grace, love and integrity.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and sister, Phyllis Ambrusko of Bradenton, Fla.

Survivors include her children, Dr. John A. White and wife, Kathy, and daughter, Claire, all of Natchez, Christopher R. White and wife, Denise, and their children, Roy, Lauren, Jenna and Katherine, all of Tempe, Ariz., Lisa W. Nelson and husband, John, both of Flagstaff, Ariz. Sarah W. Walls and husband, Davis, and their children, Christopher, Kari, and Lisa, all of Scottsdale, Dr. Geoffrey G. White and wife, Rita, and their children, Katie, Michael, Sarah and Patrick, all of Pinehurst, N.C. and Stephen B. White and wife, Cindy, and their children, Stephanie, Kelsey and Morgan, all of San Diego, Calif.; and sisters, Marylyn King, Cynthia Doyle and Gretchen Delaney.
