FERRIDAY – Services for Louis Ray Youkey, 88, of Ferriday, who died Monday, Jan. 21, 2008, in Natchez, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Comer Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Larry Waggoner and Abe Watson officiating.
Burial will follow in Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Comer Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Youkey was born June 16, 1919, in Thorntown, Ind., the son of Ray and Hazel Youkey. He was a resident of Ferriday for over 30 years. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army where he retired in July 1971. Mr. Youkey served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He was one of only a few warrant officers to receive the Legion of Merit.
Mr. Youkey was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sarah M. Youkey; brother, Robert Youkey; and sister, Evelyn French.
Survivors include one son, Dr. Jerry Youkey of Greenville, S.C.; one daughter, Penny Leatherwood of Keller, Texas; one sister, Betty Swinford of Hammett, Calif.; five grandchildren, Rebecca Lynn Youkey, Heather Rae Youkey, Justin Kane Youkey, Rick Townsley and Scott Townsley; a great-grandchild, Savannah Flassing; and friend, Lucille Ashley of Ridgecrest.
Pallbearers will be Rebecca Youkey, Heather Youkey, Justin Youkey, Rick Townsley, Scott Townsley and Zane Taunton.
