NATCHEZ — Services for Walter C. “Biggie” Cothren, 79, who died Friday, Jan. 25, 2008, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David O’Connor officiating.
Burial will follow at Natchez Cemetery under the direction of the Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be today from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Laird Union Street Funeral Home.
Mr. Cothren was born Sep. 28, 1928, to Clyde Nolan and Thelma Reed Cothren. He was a graduate of St. Joseph High School. He served in the Navy during the Korean War and was a member of the Assumption Catholic Church. He was an avid golfer and fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Peggy Cothren; daughter, Sharon Cothren; stepfather, Morris Demarco; and sister, Ovey Bonner.
Survivors include his wife, Yvonne Cothren; one daughter, Susan Cothren of West Point; two sons and their wives, David and Vicki Cothren and Kirk and Frankie Cothren of Kansas City, Kan.; three grandchildren, Daniel, Phillip and Kevin Cothren; one stepdaughter, Charlotte Nettles and her husband Bruce; six step-grandchildren, Anthony Nettles, Kristi Freeman, Matt Johnson, Hope Johnson, Faith Anne Johnson, Logan Young; and seven step-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Phillip Cothren, Kevin Cothren, Daniel Cothren, Matt Johnson, Anthony Nettles and Bruce Nettles.
Honorary pallbearers Dr. Randy Tillman, Roy Waycaster, Otto Dukes, Buck Trippi and Chris Trippi.
