ZACHARY, La. – Services for Helen Russell Sturgeon, 74, of Zachary, who died Friday, Feb. 8, 2008, at Zachary Manor Nursing Home, will be at 11 a.m. Sunday at Charlet Funeral Home with Dr. Wayne Barnes and Dr. Brythel Brantley officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, in Natchez, under the direction of Charlet Funeral Home, Inc., in Zachary, La. with the Rev. Paul Southerland officiating.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until service time Sunday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Sturgeon was a native of Torras, La. She was retired after working for Sears for 11 years. She was a member of a bridge club and an avid player. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also a manager at A.J. Woods Interviewing in Atlanta.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred O. Russell Sr. and Myrtis Loup Smith Russell; and one brother, Benson Russell.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Dan Sturgeon Sr.; two daughters, Dorie Poche and husband, Joe, both of Destrehan, La. and Dana Sturgeon Bradshaw and husband, Gary, both of Baton Rouge; one son, Dan Sturgeon Jr. and wife, Shirley, both of Zachary; one sister, Patricia Arnold and husband, Clarence, both of Zachary; one sister-in-law, Daisy Russell; one brother, Fred O. Russell Jr. and wife, Connie, both of Baker, La.; six grandchildren, grandchildren, Neal Poche, Brian Poche, Jessica Sanchez, Daniel Sturgeon, Christy Sturgeon and Michelle Sturgeon; five great-grandchildren, Jose Sanchez Jr., Allison Poche, Luke Sanchez, Nicholas Poche and Nathan Poche.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Sturgeon, Brian Poche, Gary Bradshaw, Neal Poche, Joe Poche and Jose Sanchez Sr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Leslie Vance and Henry Comer.
