Sherman Scales Sr.

NATCHEZ – Services for Sherman A. Scales Sr., 63, of Natchez, who died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at New Zion No. 1 Baptist Church with the Rev. Ernest Ford Jr. officiating.
Burial will follow at Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.
Mr. Scales was born May 24, 1944, in Natchez, the son of Alex Scales and Luberta S. Bryant. He attended school in New Orleans and Natchez. He also attended Southern University in Baton Rouge for two years. He was formerly employed with Avondale Shipyard and Louisiana State University Medical Center. He was a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his father; and two brothers, Charles Webster and Alexander Scales.
Survivors include his mother; one son, Sherman Adorins Scales Jr. and wife, Donnice, both of Round Rock, Texas; two daughters, Vicky Stewart and husband, Derrick, both of New Orleans and Dwanda Reed; nine grandchildren, Sherman Scales III, Sharaviron Scales, Theresa Scales, Brittony Scales, Symone Scales, Leonard Scales, Tommie L. Robins Jr., Jornethia M. Hutchins and Joey Hutchins; eight great-grandchildren; a god-mother, Augustine Hall; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Derrick Stewart Jr., Sherman Scales III, Sherman Scales Sr., Tommie Robins Jr., Leonard Scales and Michael Green.
