NATCHEZ – Services for Caroline C. Stowers, 73, of Natchez, who died Sunday, March 23, 2008, at Riverland Medical Center, in Ferriday, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. John Larson officiating.
Burial will follow at Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church.
Mrs. Stowers was born March 31, 1934, in Red Wing, Minn., the daughter of Ernest Filson and Irene Splettstoeser Carmichael. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Natchez, past president of Natchez Medical Auxiliary and a member of the Natchez Garden Club. Mrs. Stowers was a graduate of Johns Hopkins School of Nursing and was a registered nurse for many years. She taught diabetic education at Natchez Regional Medical Center for several years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Dr. Kurtz B. Stowers.
Survivors include two daughters, Karen Sutton and husband, Billy, both of Monterey, and Linda Lamaze of Brandon; one son, Kurtz Stowers Jr. and wife, Terri, both of Kingwood, Texas; four grandchildren, Alicia Hutcherson, Ashley Stowers, Kaitlyn Stowers and Cullen Stowers; one brother, David Carmichael and wife, Nancy, both of Prescott, Ariz.; two brothers-in-law, Bill Stowers and wife, Jeannie, both of Natchez, and Doug Stowers and wife, Bonnie, both of Guntown; and six nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Billy Sutton, Bill Stowers, Jim Stowers, Doug Stowers, Bryson Stowers, Layne Browning and David Browning.
Honorary pallbearers will be George McFarland, Dr. Patrick Duffy and Verl Day.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Judes Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
