Robert Shumway

VIDALIA – Services for Robert Paul Shumway, 79, of Vidalia, who died Thursday, March 27, 2008, in Natchez, will be at 10 a.m. today at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with the Revs. George Pookkattu and David Connor officiating.
Burial will follow at Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Comer Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Mr. Shumway was born March 19, 1929, in Oklahoma City, Okla., the son of Charles W. and Pauline P. Shumway. He was the owner/operator of an appliance repair shop. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Mr. Shumway was also a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, Natchez Historical Society and the Mississippi Historical Society.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Charles Nathaniel Shumway; and three brothers, Keith Shumway, Paul Shumway and Richard Sturgis.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Rose Shumway; one son, Michael M. Shumway of Louisville, Ky.; one daughter, Ruth Powers of Natchez; four grandchildren, Charles A. Powers, Sarah V. Powers, John M. Shumway and Sarah K. Shumway; and one brother, Harry Shumway.
Pallbearers will be Charles Powers, John Shumway, Charles Clayton, Alyson Coyle, Bill Murray and Edwin Beach.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary Basilica or Cathedral School Development Office.
