Hershel Barron

FERRIDAY – Services for Hershel Theo Barron, 83, of Ferriday, who died Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at his residence, will be at 2 p.m. today at Comer Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Ed Ellis, Howard Childs and Hershel Clanton officiating.
Burial will follow at Highland Park Cemetery, in Sicily Island, under the direction of Comer Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Mr. Barron was born Jan. 11, 1925, in Franklin Parish, La., the son of Zennie and Mattie Barron. He was a resident of Ferriday for 54 and was a retired surveyor for the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development. He was a Methodist.
Mr. Barron was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Dustin Mason.
Survivors include his wife, Frances C. Barron; one son, Lonnie Barron and wife, Grace, of Cash Bayou, La.; one daughter, Gwen Comeaux and husband, David, both of Cash Bayou; two sisters, Annie Dollar of West Monroe, La. and Laverne Mock of Baskin, La.; seven grandchildren, Lacie Killian and husband, Allen, Brandy Iles and husband, David, Melanie Book and husband, B.J., Karen Antala, Brandy King and husband, Dan, Stephen Wyles and wife, Ann, and Chris Temple and wife, Michelle; four great-grandchildren, Cody and Tanner Mason, Kirsten Iles and Cayden Killian; and a number of relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be B.J. Book, David Iles, Allen Killian, Donald Money, Derrick Murray, Dan Varnado and Randall Williams.
Honorary pallbearers will be fellow employees from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development.
