NATCHEZ – Services for Elvy “Pat” Patterson, 88, formerly of Natchez, who died Thursday, April 9, 2008, at Christian City Nursing Home, in Union City, Ga., will be at 11 a.m. Friday at New Beginnings-China Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Leroy White officiating.
Burial will follow at Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. A family hour will be from 6 to 7 p.m.
Mr. Patterson was born Dec. 14, 1919, in Adams County, the son of John and Louise Patterson. He served in the U.S. Army for three years during World War II. Mr. Patterson was employed for 31 years with International Paper Company and retired in 1982.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ollie Patterson; one daughter, Velma Greenwood; four brothers, Frank, James, Warner and Charles; and four sisters, Julia Brown, Virginia Montgomery, Matteal Bell and Fred Lener Jackson.
Survivors include one son, Gilbert Patterson and wife, S. Ross, both of Atlanta; three grandchildren, Karen Penn and G.D. Patterson, both of Atlanta, and Reginald Greenwood of Jonestown; and five great-grandchildren, all of Atlanta.
Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
